Be Prepared - Winter Traffic, Transportation and Parking
Reservation-based parking will be implemented at Palisades Tahoe and Northstar California for the 2023/24 winter season. Read about each program on VisitTruckeeTahoe.com’s Ski Resorts page and remind your guests to plan ahead and book their weekend/holiday parking and dinner reservations well in advance.
Encourage guests and employees to ride TART Connect, a FREE on-demand shuttle for point-to-point rides around Truckee including Tahoe Donner. TART Connect does not go to/from Palisades Tahoe, Northstar California, or Sugar Bowl Resort but can be used as connection to a fixed transit bus stop. View winter hours of operation. Shuttles are dog-friendly, wheelchair accessible, and equipped with ski/bike racks.

Visit Truckee-Tahoe Presents Two Year Strategic Plan on November 14, 2023
Visit Truckee-Tahoe will present our Two Year Strategic Plan, Truckee Stewardship Plan and TTBID Annual Report to Truckee Town Council on Tuesday, November 14, 2023. The presentation will last approximately 15-minutes, followed by Q&A from the Town Council. Exact timing is TBD, between 5:00 PM to 7:30 PM.

New California Law - Advertising Rates Include Required Fees. Effective 7/1/2024.
The California Travel Association worked to exclude TOT and district fees from advertising rates as a compromise to a Bill (previously AB 683) that was inevitable to become law. AB 537 was signed by Governor Newsom - Advertising Display Rates must include fees required by the business (lodging) owner.
- AB 537 Signed by Governor - advertised lodging rates must include any required fees (i.e. cleaning fee, resort fee, parking fee). Effective July 1, 2024.
Town STR Ordinance - Update on Clean Up Language (November) & Timing of Next “Major” Review (2025)
The Town of Truckee pulled an STR Ordinance “clean up” agenda item from the Oct. 10th Council meeting for further work by Staff. Please be advised this will be returning to Council some time in November. This will be a discussion item at the Nov. 2, Property Managers meeting. While clean up language is meant to be non-substantive, some nuances may impact your business operations.
Please be advised that the next “major” STR ordinance review (barring a crisis) shall be bi-annual, after the first year since modifications were made in May 2022. This means another review is not up to Council until May of 2025, and Town Staff will start looking at it by late winter 2025.
