As Truckee heads into its busiest visitor season—and peak wildfire risk—it’s more important than ever that our lodging partners are prepared for emergency scenarios. On Wednesday, June 25, 2025, Visit Truckee-Tahoe hosted a 30-minute Wildfire Readiness Webinar, designed to equip local lodging managers and staff with critical knowledge to help keep guests and teams safe.
We were honored to welcome James Blattler, Emergency Services Manager for the Town of Truckee, who provided an inside look at how wildfire evacuations are coordinated at the local level. James outlined:
- How emergency evacuation decisions are made
- What to expect if a wildfire impacts the region
- Communication protocols during an active incident
- The key resources every lodging property should bookmark and share
- How to proactively prepare guests and staff
